"Pebble To A Pearl" October 14
If there could be a new album...
Alright people, Pebble to a Pearl is more than just an amazing and personal record. But we, fans, keep wanting more, I think! Maybe it's early for a new record, but we are always curios. What would you expect from Nikka in the future? Will the next album be similar to Pebble or way different?
IMO, it will be something in Nikka's style, away from all those disgusting Lady Gaga stuff. A jazzy, soulful record or maybe funky rock. I hope there will be no remix albums or compilations. They are useless. Live albums are for me the opposite of that. I would love to see a new live release by Nikka, or maybe a DVD, which isn't that rare like Live at the Roxy!

I agree with you. I would be ecstatic to hear something new. It's "ok" that she takes her time for her to be true to herself to gather her goals for the next album, though I do get anxious and want to have a tantrum for something new NOW dammit...lol. I'm sure she's tired of tantrums and surely don't need mine...lol. I'm always on the hunt to see if something new has leaked on the internet. I'm still waiting to get surprised! I can't really count on announcements to happen...ahem...here. Right?
A new DVD that wont be bought by non fans with a purpose to sell and rape real fans via ebay would be a dream come true! If one is ever in the works, add it to the store, here, PALEASE! I still can't believe the Autographed Roxy DVD was bought for 15-20 bucks and instantly inflated to the highway robbery a real fan like me would sacrifice for. I paid waaay too much for it, but that's the price to being a big fan I guess. Even Nikka made a public plea for her audience to buy it (at Largo). I mention the word "audience", instead of fans, because too many people talked while she performed...sorry....( I'm sure there were some fans there, no offense, you know who you are...lol) and she told them they could sell on ebay and make a big profit. Honestly, I don't care what I could make with mine. I won't sell it. I wish she would have offered it here on her site instead... or anywhere really, just keep it affordable and accessible to REAL fans, right?
I just saw it on ebay recently for the "buy it now" price of 199 bucks...ouch!
Oh well, maybe she will create an off album track here and there for the next few years (and build up our rare collection) to satisy as an appetizer to the future album to come, to allow herself more time. I'll be ok with that. I love that she's ok to create a song here and there with no commitment to an album until she is ready, like Maybe Baby. I'm ok if she want's to do more cover songs too. May I suggest...again...lol, "Still The Same" by Bob Segar? I like that she can cover the "not so popular" song. Man, I wish she would do that one. That would be very new to her, but an oldie but goodie (to me anyway). I wonder if she even likes him. Her husband reminds me of him for some reason (when he grows out his hair and beard...lol). Nikka has the right deep tone and strength to rock that song new.
I will admit, my wish would be for an album that has it all, kinda like how she has already been. I want a collection. I want variety with... a song that has a true vintage classic rock sound, a song that is true funk, a song that is true blues, and for her to bring back the feel from the EGTS era. I just love the dramatic horns from Tug of War, the beginning of So Have I For You, and the xylophone sound and the melancholy strings from Corners of My Mind. That album ended perfectly because of THAT song! I LOVE to hear extra sound effects...bells, whistles, strings, horns, wind (like from Damn I Said It First), tongue clicking, cheek trumpets...things that make you go, "What was that sound?" after playing the song ten times...lol. I love her own added background harmonies. I would want more of that on her next album.
I will thank her hubby for brilliantly layering all those sounds in her songs. He's a genius! I LOVE THE ORIGINALITY! A vintage and comfortable familiar feel...but conveyed into a new original way. There is something about the EGTS album that resonates with me ( I know, Mark Ronson helped on this one though). It is time less.
I was hoping for a hidden/bonus track on PTAP, like CNDN. I wish there was just even a "snippet" of something, it doesn't have to be a full song. It shows more creativity. It would be the one more morsel I need before it's really over. It was a bummer to hear the album wrap around from Bullets in the Sky to... Stuck to You repeated again on my cd player. (I'll admit Stuck to You was my least favorite on the album...sorry but)
I want it all I guess. I don't want the next record to sound the same throughout. That's what I love about Nikka. I don't know what to expect, except her respect and embrace of the old school sound. I don't want her to sound like pop or compete with whats on modern radio either. Nikka is so much better than ANYTHING on the radio today. I'm so sick of the same crap played out over and over even when I change my tuner, it's the same old or new thing over and over. There is WAAAY too much music out there people! Why are stations keeping a safe list of songs to play on repeat mode?
It's such a shame that the world don't feel the same that we do about Nikka and her crew.
For some reason, I really do think she will express how it has been as a parent (so far) in her next album. I really do. It all started with Sugar In My Bowl. The song PTAP was just a beginning, I think. I don't think what will come, will be a "direct" message to her daughter or family, but it will be there somewhere in her music. When Nikka learns something, she wants to share it/express it as a song and she's learning a lot as a parent, I know. I'm so thankful she and her husband are a talented couple who brings out each other's potential and knows what they want and how to express it. I hope she is working on new lyrics and ready to announce a new song sometime soon.
A new song will keep me happy for another year. All in all, I expect a 3 yr. gap in between her album releases. It will be a lil' while before she is ready to rock a whole new gig...although we real fans don't really care for her to hurry new material. If she would just satisy us by making a single appearance as a webcast from home or other chosen venue and use some of her previous material (an hours worth), I'd be thrilled! Wouldn't you? Especially from all of her previous albums. A simple acoustic session of some of these songs would be awesome. Imagine CNDN...done with just a FEW instruments. Cool. I could go On and On here...lol. I want new Nikka material fer sure, but I want it with a diversity of flavor...and don't forget a little rock and roll solo somewhere AND a BONUS track at the end (not listed) to be surprised with when listening to the album for the very first time!!!

Ooh a new live release would be sooo cool. What would I like to hear in a new album? Hmm how about a song written for her tireless persistent decicated fans. Bluesy, funky, whatever.

I ve been in california for like 2 freakin months and I did not have a oppertunaty to see her live
because she simply does not say where she is gonna perform!!!!!!!
